Carey Starr

Hello! I’m Carey Starr, I’m a Louisville native! I grew up off Chamberlin Ln back when there was only a Walmart nearby. It’s been quite the transformation! I attended Louisville Male High School and hold a Bachelor of Science in Family Consumer Science with a focus in Child/Family Studies from WKU. I’ve spent the past 18+ years working in early childhood education, child care, and family services across Kentucky.

My Background

Most recently, I served as a Local Area Manager for a Head Start/Early Head Start program. Before that, I worked as Human Services Surveyor inspecting licensed child care programs, Early Care and Education Health and Safety Coach supporting child care providers statewide, and as an Early Childhood Service Coordinator helping families of infants and toddlers with disabilities access early intervention services. Earlier in my career I worked directly in classrooms from infant rooms to after-school programs. So I understand what goes on at every level.

Outside of Work

Family is everything to me. I’m the proud mom of a teenage daughter who keeps me on my toes! I believe the same values that make a great family make a great school: trust, consistency, and lots of love.

I believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment, and every family deserves support and respect. I’m committed to building strong partnerships with parents and staff alike, and I welcome open communication.
